Project overview
Whispers of the Departed is an interactive installation that invites participants to explore ephemeral memories of the deceased, transforming absence into presence through ambient interaction.

Design System
The challenge wasn’t merely to create a memorial piece—it was to craft a moment where personal memory and shared experience intersect. In much monument design, the visitor is passive; here, we wanted them to become participants.
In testing sessions, visitors spent 42% more time in the space than in a static memorial exhibit. Many reported feeling a deeper connection with the absent subjects. I learned that even minimal interaction can create powerful emotional resonance when thoughtfully designed.
