The challenge wasn’t merely to create a memorial piece—it was to craft a moment where personal memory and shared experience intersect. In much memorial design, the visitor is passive; here, we wanted them to become participants.
In testing sessions, visitors spent 42 % more time in the space compared to a static memorial exhibit. Many reported feeling a deeper connection with the absent subjects. I learned that even minimal interaction can create powerful emotional resonance when thoughtfully designed.
